- Free bus journeys put great Ayrshire adventures within easy reach for over‑60s
- Frequent, comfortable services make Easter trips to Glasgow simple and stress‑free
- Stagecoach app enables customers to plan, track and enjoy a premium journey experience
People aged over 60 across Ayrshire are being encouraged to feel like VIPs this Easter by making the most of their free bus travel on local Stagecoach services, whether heading into Glasgow for a day out, exploring Ayrshire towns, or enjoying special trips with grandchildren during the Easter school holidays (3–17 April).
With buses running frequently from Ayr, Prestwick, Kilmarnock, Irvine and communities across Ayrshire, Stagecoach offers a comfortable, convenient and cost‑free way for people aged 60+ to get out and about, stay connected and enjoy memorable experiences close to home and further afield.
One of the most popular options is the direct X77 service from Ayr to Glasgow. The journey takes around an hour from Ayr Bus Station to Buchanan Bus Station, with buses running every 30 minutes throughout the day, from early morning into the evening. It offers a straightforward, relaxed way to reach the heart of the city without the hassle of driving or paying for parking.
Once in Glasgow, there is something for everyone:
- Shopping along Buchanan Street
- A wide choice of cafés and restaurants for a leisurely lunch
- Cultural experiences including the Gallery of Modern Art
- Family fun with grandchildren, from museum visits to Easter shows at the King’s Theatre
Across Ayrshire itself, local services open up coastal walks, parks, historic attractions, leisure centres and town‑centre shopping—giving older passengers the chance to enjoy great days out right on their doorstep.
To support customers in planning their adventures, Stagecoach is encouraging passengers to download the Stagecoach app, which allows users to plan routes, check timetables, track buses in real time and select preferred boarding points, helping ensure a smooth, premium travel experience.
Fiona Doherty, Managing Director of Stagecoach South Scotland, said:
“We’re proud to operate right at the heart of our communities, and we want to remind concession card holders across Ayrshire to make the most of their free, sustainable travel this Easter.
“With simply their bus pass, customers aged 60+ can unlock fantastic opportunities, whether that’s a relaxed day out in Glasgow, exploring local towns, or creating unforgettable memories with the grandchildren during the school holidays.
“The bus is free, convenient and right on the doorstep, making it the perfect way to get out, stay connected and enjoy what our region has to offer this spring.”
Stagecoach encourages customers to check local services and plan their Easter journeys using the Stagecoach app or by visiting the Stagecoach website.
