Customers on buses 1 and 2 are set to enjoy free bus travel in the run up to Christmas after the completion of roadworks, which have caused considerable disruption.
A lengthy diversion has been in place for 10 weeks because of Severn Trent Water works in Duckmanton. These works were due to finish on 19 December but have finished early.
To mark the end of this disruption, a free travel offer will be live on parts of bus services 1 and 2 between 16 December and 24 December.
Free travel will be available between Shirebrook and Langwith or Whaley Thorns on bus 1, plus Bolsover to Scarcliffe and Palterton on bus 2.
This free travel offer has been made possible by funding from Derbyshire County Council’s Bus Service Improvement Plan.
Matt Kitchin, Managing Director of Stagecoach in Derbyshire, said: “We know Severn Trent Water’s works have caused considerable disruption for our valued customers – just as they have caused a great deal of frustration for our team.
“We are very grateful for our customers’ patience and understanding during this period, so we are pleased to be able to make this gesture of thanks, before Christmas, to mark the return of our full route and normal timetable.
“Our services are always great value, so, this Christmas, let our professional drivers take the strain as you get out and enjoy the festive season.”
