Stagecoach Yorkshire driver praised for going above and beyond to help pedestrians get home safely

A Driver, for Stagecoach Yorkshire, has won praise for living out the local bus operator’s promise, ‘we’ve got you’, by making sure that two pedestrians got back to their hotel safely.

A pedestrian wrote in to Stagecoach Yorkshire, saying that they were walking alone with their friend, at 11.15 at night, on their way home from a concert. Fearing for their wellbeing, Clive Baker pipped his horn and pulled his bus over to check that they were well, and to ask where they were going. They had been walking for some time, so were relieved that he then took them to the nearest stop to their hotel.

As they were getting off the bus, he gave them valuable safety advice about the walk back to their hotel.

The commendation concluded: “Your driver went above and beyond to assist us, and I would like to thank him very much for all his help - he was a credit to your company, please thank him."

For his thoughtful actions, Stagecoach Yorkshire has awarded Clive a Certificate of Commendation and a Love2Shop voucher, which were handed over by Duty Manager, Shayne Howarth.

The fact is that our local communities are hugely important to all my team, because we are part of these communities, and Clive shows how we will go that extra mile to help and provide a memorable service.”

The commendation comes just a month after another local Bus Driver, Derek Parker, was revealed to have won a Stagecoach Star of the Month Award for showing care and compassion for a young woman, who fell ill on his bus, suffering from the symptoms of a heart attack.
