Intrepid bus Engineers set to tackle Three Peaks Challenge for colleague's daughter

29 May 2026

Four intrepid Engineers at local bus operator, Stagecoach Yorkshire, are set to tackle a world-famous endurance challenge, in the hope of raising much-needed funds for one of their daughters.

Jack Abbott, Engineering Director, along with Carl Rodgers, Engineering Manager, Eddie Brooks, Mechanic, and Chris Milton, Assistant Engineering Manager are set to take on the world-famous National Three Peaks Challenge, which involves climbing the highest mountains in Scotland, England, and Wales - Ben Nevis (1,344 metres), Scafell Pike (978 metres), and Snowdon (1,085 metres) - within 24 hours. It includes 23 miles of walking, 3,064 metres of ascent, and 462 miles of driving.

Funds raised will go to PMSF, a charity that supports people with Phelan McDermid Syndrome, a very rare genetic disorder that affects just one in 10,000 people. It is caused by a deletion of the SHANK3 gene, which is vital for brain development.

Eddie’s daughter, Amelia, is living with this syndrome, meaning that she faces challenges every single day that most people never have to think about. She has low muscle tone, severe developmental delay, and is non-verbal. She is also on the autism spectrum.

Jack said: “We are proud to be tackling this challenge to support the wonderful work done by PMSF, and we have been pleased by the initial donations that have come in from colleagues across our region. This support can make a real difference to Amelia’s life. Donations will help provide essential specialist equipment, therapies, and support to improve her comfort, development, and quality of life.

“At Stagecoach, we firmly believe in doing the right thing, so now we are doing our part to give back.”
