Young Bus Fan Gets to Look Behind the Scenes at Rawmarsh Depot

A young bus enthusiast, from Rotherham, has been given the chance to see ‘behind the scenes’ of how a modern bus network is run to get local people, in the region, where they need to go.

Bus fan, Conner, is a dedicated bus enthusiast, who regularly travels on local services, and the team at Stagecoach Yorkshire’s Rawmarsh depot were quick to offer him a tour around their facility.

During his depot visit, Conner was able to explore the fleet up close, take a seat in the cab, and load destination blinds to listen to announcements for services he does not ordinarily travel on. He also saw a training bus, which was fitted with an interesting older-style fold-up ramp.

Matthew Wilson, Inspector at Stagecoach Yorkshire, said: “It was a real pleasure to meet Conner and to witness, first-hand, his enthusiasm for travelling on our services, highlighting the consistently positive experiences he has with our Drivers, along with a particular appreciation for our next stop-announcement system.

“His parents kindly said that the visit had made his year! We very much look forward to welcoming him back on board our services in the near future.''

John Young, Commercial Director of Stagecoach Yorkshire, added: “September is Catch the Bus Month, so it was a wonderful way to celebrate and to meet Conner. At Stagecoach, we always say that we ‘support our communities’ and this was a wonderful example of that ethos at work.”
