Your Bedford bus network

We've improved Bedford's bus network following extensive research into how our customers travel, alongside months of consultation with passengers, drivers, local authorities and councillors.

Today, our network provides reliable connections across Bedford and the surrounding area, helping you get to work, education, shopping destinations, healthcare appointments, and days out with ease.

New routes, more places to go

As part of the network improvements, Service 5 was extended to Woodside Dover Crescent and Mark Rutherford School, providing passengers boarding at Dover Crescent with twice as many bus journeys. A new 2W service was also introduced, providing connections to Wootton via Interchange Retail Park and Wixams. For customers travelling between Stevenage and Hudson Road, the SB12 was added to improve connectivity.

Faster, more frequent journeys

Service 3 was revised to operate directly, helping to simplify journeys and reduce travel times. Service 4 was extended to serve Elms Farm and Norse Road, with buses running every 30 minutes to provide a more frequent service.

Buses you can count on

Timetables on Services 1, 6, 8 and X5 were updated to improve reliability across the network. Services 9, 9A and 9B were enhanced to provide journeys between Bedford and Stevenage every two hours, while the introduction of Service 9D created a new link between Henlow, Hitchin and Stevenage, operating every 30 minutes.

More time to travel

Evening services were expanded across the network, with Services 1, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 9 extended to operate until 10:30pm on weekdays, giving customers greater flexibility for work, shopping and leisure travel.
