Cumbria is home to some of the most breathtaking countryside views, so make the most of it and book a cabin in the Lake District. Extend the Mother's Day celebrations and spend a long weekend here to show your Mum just how special she is. You'll find Stagecoach services running across the area, and the 599 will pick you up right outside the Windermere train station and take you wherever you need to be.

If your Mum loves a challenge, why not take her to an escape room? You'll find a great one in Lancaster right by the bus station where loads of our services, including our number 10 and 7 buses, stop. Lancaster Escape offers something a little bit different for Mother's Day, and we recommend Fun at the Fair or Framed for beginners. Both rooms are suitable for children aged 8 to 12 too, with extra clues added if you'd like young ones to join in.

North East

The North East is bursting with options for Mother's Day adventures, with areas like Newcastle and Middlesbrough serving up some fantastic offers and a wide range of local foodie hot spots on your doorstep! In Teesside, take services 36 or 52 through Norton and call in for Sunday Lunch at 12 Hartland Place, one of the many lovely eateries in the area.

Heading further north? Visit a local favourite, The Botanist in Newcastle, and treat your Mam to a lunch she's guaranteed to love, thanks to the free Molton Brown goodie bag you'll get thrown in! To get here, take any Newcastle service via city centre and jump off at Monument (Blackett Street).

Fancy spoiling your Mum with a shopping trip? Don't let her linger over that complimentary glass of fizz for too long! Slip into Intu Eldon Square and splash those Mother's Day vouchers in Fenwick's or one of her favourite shops, all just a short stroll from your bus stop.

You'll find a whole bunch of pubs and bars in the area but Newcastle is also a fantastic option for a spot of culture! Why not spend some time enjoying the beautiful architecture of Grey Street before heading to a show at the Theatre Royal? Afterwards you can even enjoy a few cocktails in Pleased to Meet You and Decantus. You can even get here from Sunderland and South Shields with the X24 and X34.

Yorkshire

Home to some of the most beautiful countryside in the UK, why not spend Mother's Day in Yorkshire at Newmillerdam Country Park and Boathouse. Based in Wakefield, you and your Mum can enjoy a historic visit to the boathouse that was built in the 1820s, take a casual stroll around the Newmillerdam Arboretum and then sit down for a Mother's Day meal at the nearby La Fortezza or The Fox and Hounds. Simply catch the 59 from Barnsley interchange - it'll take you to Newmillerdam Country Park & Boathouse for just £5.00 with our five for a fiver ticket.

Do something different this Mother's Day, and book a punting tour for your Mum in Cambridge. The private tour will last for 50 minutes, travelling along the back of the city's most famous colleges. If you still have room after your picnic along the river, or if you've spent the day simply exploring Cambridge with your Mum and you'd like to treat her to dinner, head to Trinity Restaurant. If you'd rather celebrate on the Saturday evening, reserve a table at Midsummer House. With a beautiful riverside location, this French eatery offers fine dining at its best, and is closed on Sundays. Any of our city centre services around Cambridge, such as the 11, B and PR5 will take you close by, dropping you off on Drummer Street.
