Cheltenham Races by bus

Get to the Cheltenham Races by bus; we run a Raceday Shuttle Bus for Cheltenham Racecourse on New Year's Day, Cheltenham Festival and the November Meeting.

Our Raceday shuttle buses will take you directly from Cheltenham Railway Station or the Town Centre to Cheltenham Racecourse. All you need is to buy your shuttle ticket from our ticket sellers on the day via cash or contactless.

 

November Meeting

Our Shuttle buses for the November Meeting will run from the 15th - 17th November 2024.

New Year's Day Races

Our Shuttle buses for the New Year's Day Races will run on the 1st January 2025.

Single: £4

 

Getting to the Racecourse:

• From the Railway Station

You can board at the Railway Station from the car park where our shuttle buses will be parked waiting for you.

You’ll need to buy a ticket via one of our ticket sellers on the day using either contactless or cash.

 

• From the Town Centre

You can board from the town centre from Clarence Street at stop 8.

You’ll need to buy a ticket via one of our ticket sellers on the day using either contactless or cash.

 

Getting home:

While you’re having a great time watching the races and entertainment on offer, we’ll be gathering buses and drivers to get ready to take you home again. Our buses will pick you up from the racecourse car park.   

 

Cheltenham Festival

Our Shuttle buses for the Cheltenham Festival will run from the 11th - 14th March 2025.

Our service D also has a special timetable during this period.

You'll need to keep hold of your shuttle bus ticket.

Cheltenham can be very busy around the races so if you’ve got a specific train to catch, make sure you leave plenty of time.  

Every bus will go to both places so you don't need to worry about getting the right bus.

Travelling to the races at other times of year? We can still get you there.

For all other race events at the Racecourse at other times of the year, you will be able to catch our service D from either the Railway Station or the Town Centre.

All ticket types will be available on this service. Tickets can be bought on bus or via the Stagecoach Bus App.

Q. How do I buy a shuttle bus ticket for the races and how much is it?

Tickets can be purchased via our ticket sellers on the day, using either contactless or cash.

 

Q. Where can I catch the bus for the Races?

If you're arriving at the Railway Station, our shuttle bus will arrive in the stations car park.

If you're already in Cheltenham then we'll pick you up at Clarence Street from stop 8.

Returning from Cheltenham Racecourse, buses will be waiting in the car park.    .

Q. Can I use a DayRider, West Gold or MegaRider ticket?

On Cheltenham Races specific shuttle buses, you will be unable to use these ticket types. However, on our regular services such as the D you will be able to use these.

 

Q. Do I need to have cash to hand?

We accept contactless payments up to the value of £45 so you don't need to have cash ready.
