How often is the Peak Sightseer?
The Peak Sightseer runs daily from 23 May until 19th September, then Saturdays only until Saturday 10th October.
Buses on both the Red route and the Blue route run every hour.
Where does the Peak Sightseer stop?
There are two Peak Sightseer routes which each make different stops.
The Red route is a loop making stops at Chatsworth – Edensor – Pilsley – Hassop Station – Bakewell – Ashford in the Water before returning to Chatsworth.
The Blue route is an out and back route with stops at Chatsworth – Baslow – Calver - Grindleford – Hathersage – Bamford – Hope – Castleton – Speedwell Cavern - Blue John Cavern/Mam Tor before going back to Chatsworth the same way.

How long does a loop on the Peak Sightseer last?
A full loop on the Peak Sightseer Red route takes just under an hour.
A journey from Chatsworth to Blue John Caverns/Mam Tor on the Blue route takes approximately 1 hour 10 minutes. The return journey from Blue John Caverns/Mam Tor to Chatsworth takes approximately 1 hour 18 minutes.
This may vary depending on traffic conditions.
How much are Peak Sightseer tickets?
An Adult Peak Sightseer Day ticket costs £14.00, Under-19 tickets are £8.50, Concessions are £9.50, a Family ticket (2 adults and 2 children) is £38.00, and a group ticket for any five people is £60.00.
The day ticket can be used all day on both Peak Sightseer routes as well as any other Stagecoach buses included within the Stagecoach Gold boundary.
Where can I buy a Peak Sightseer ticket?
You can buy a Peak Sightseer ticket on the bus from your driver on the day either by cash or contactless payment or adult and group tickets are available from the Stagecoach app.
Peak Sightseer tickets are also valid on all other Stagecoach buses in the local area and can also be bought on the 65/65A, 66, X66, 160 & 170 service as well.
Are dogs welcome on the Peak Sightseer?
Yes, well behaved dogs are very welcome on the bus, free of charge.
Can I see where my bus is on the route?
Yes, use the Stagecoach bus app and search for the buses called “RED” for the Red route and “BLU” for the Blue route. This will give you live updates on a map so you can hop off and on all day with confidence.

Can I travel with a £3 single fare on the Peak Sightseer?
No, sorry - special fares apply on this service.
Can I travel for free with a Concessions or Disability Pass?
No, but you can buy a day ticket for a discounted price of £9.50 with a valid ENCTS card when shown to the driver.
Can I use my Stagecoach Gold ticket on the Peak Sightseer?
Sorry, Stagecoach Gold tickets are not accepted on the Peak Sightseer but will allow you to buy the reduced £9.50 Peak Sightseer day ticket from your driver.
Can I use a Derbyshire or Manchester Wayfarer ticket on Peak Sightseer?
No, but it will allow you to buy the reduced £9.50 Peak Sightseer day ticket from your driver.
What is the difference between the Peak Sightseer Family ticket and Peak Sightseer Group ticket?
The Peak Sightseer Family ticket offers day travel for up to 2 adults and 2 children costing £38 and the Peak Sightseer Group ticket offers travel all day for up to 5 adults for £60
Do children get a discount on Peak Sightseer?
Under 19s can travel on Peak Sightseer all day for £8.50 with a new child ticket. This can be bought on buses with proof of age.
Can I use my Peak Sightseer day ticket on other Stagecoach services?
Yes, a Peak Sightseer day ticket can be used in the same way as a Stagecoach Gold ticket to travel on other Stagecoach services. See the Stagecoach Gold ticket boundary here. Buy your Peak Sightseer tickets on service 160, 170 or the Peak Sightseer.

No need to pre-book tickets, just turn up on the day to catch the bus.
How can I get to the Peak Sightseer?
It’s easy to leave the car at home and get to the Peak Sightseer on the bus or train. Links to Peak Sightseer from the surrounding towns and cities are shown below.
Peak Sightseer has stops at Bamford, Chesterfield and Hope rail stations, making connections easy. Some journeys start and end at Chesterfield rail station. There are also links to/from South Sheffield at the start and end of the day.
Getting to the Peak Sightseer from Chesterfield Rail Station and Town Centre
Peak Sightseer open-top buses start from Chesterfield rail station, direct to the Peak District, at 8:42am, 9:12am, 9:42am and 10:12am. Peak Sightseer open-top buses return to Chesterfield rail station direct from the Peak District at the end of the day arriving at 5:16pm, 5:28pm, 5:58pm and 6:46pm.
Service 170 runs hourly from Chesterfield (rail station and New Beetwell Street), offering connections to the Peak Sightseer Blue route in Baslow or Chatsworth and the Red route at Chatsworth or Bakewell. Peak Sightseer tickets are also valid and can be bought on the 170 bus.
Getting to the Peak Sightseer from Sheffield
Peak Sightseer open-top buses run from parts of South Sheffield starting at Low Edges (09.53am), then via Woodseats (09:58am), Millhouses (10:10am) and Totley (10:20am). direct to the Peak District starting at 9:53am, 9:58am and 10:10am. Then return at the end of the day to Totley (18:12pm), Millhouses (18:19pm), Woodseats (18:28pm) and Low Edges (18:34pm).
Stagecoach 65 runs 2 hourly from Sheffield Interchange and Meadowhall, connect to Peak Sightseer Blue route at Grindleford or Calver.
Peakline 218 runs every 30 mins from Sheffield, connect to Peak Sightseer Blue route in Baslow or the Red route in Bakewell.
The 271/272 run at least once every hour from Sheffield, connect to Peak Sightseer Blue route at Hathersage.
Trains run hourly from Sheffield to the Peak District, connecting to Peak Sightseer Blue route at Hope or Bamford.

Trains run hourly from Manchester, Marple and New Mills to the Peak District, connecting to Peak Sightseer Blue route at Hope and Bamford.
Getting to the Peak Sightseer from Matlock
Stagecoach 160 runs four times a day, linking Matlock with Chatsworth to connect with Peak Sightseer Red and Blue routes at Chatsworth.
Transpeak runs hourly from Matlock, connecting to the Peak Sightseer Red route in Bakewell.
Sixes 6.1 runs hourly from Matlock, connecting to Peak Sightseer Red route in Bakewell.

There are now three trains per hour from Derby to Chesterfield. Connect to Peak Sightseer at Chesterfield rail station where open-top buses start direct journeys to the Peak District at 8:42am, 9:12am, 9:42am and 10:12am. Open-top buses arrive back at Chesterfield train station from the Peak District at 5:16pm, 5:28pm, 5:58pm and 6:46pm. Bus 170 also serves Chesterfield rail station, providing an hourly link to Baslow, Chatsworth and Bakewell.

Stagecoach 65 runs 2 hourly, connecting to the Peak Sightseer Blue route at Calver or Grindleford.
Transpeak runs hourly from Buxton, connecting to the Peak Sightseer Red route in Ashford in the Water or Bakewell
Getting to the Peak Sightseer from Nottingham
Trains run twice an hour from Nottingham to Chesterfield. Connect to Peak Sightseer at Chesterfield train station where open-top buses start direct journeys to the Peak District at 8:42am, 9:12am, 9:42am and 10:12am. Open-top buses arrive back at Chesterfield train station from the Peak District at 5:16pm, 5:28pm, 5:58pm and 6:46pm. Bus 170 also serves Chesterfield rail station, providing an hourly link to Baslow, Chatsworth and Bakewell.
Getting to the Peak Sightseer from Mansfield
Pronto runs every 30 mins from Mansfield. Connect to Peak Sightseer in Chesterfield where open-top buses start direct journeys to the Peak District from New Beetwell Street at 8:50am, 9:20am, 9:50am and 10:20am. Open-top buses arrive back at New Beetwell Street from the Peak District at 5:12pm, 5:24pm, 5:54pm and 6:42pm. Bus 170 also links Chesterfield with Baslow, Chatsworth and Bakewell every hour.
