Stagecoach South West ensure Cinderella arrives in sustainable style to the ball

27 Nov 2024

In a unique collaboration Stagecoach South West joined forces with The Northcott Theatre in Exeter to ensure that Cinderella got to the ball in time with a trip on the number 4 bus to raise awareness of travelling sustainably when planning a trip to the theatre and around the city this festive season.

This year, the Northcott Theatre’s Christmas pantomime is the much-loved Cinderella. In a twist on the classic tale and in a bid to highlight the importance of sustainable travel options to the theatre the promotional trailer sees Cinderella leaving her ugly stepsisters behind to deal with their broken-down car and hopping aboard the number 4 Service, which runs regularly between the city centre and the University.

Kelly Johnson, Development and Marketing Director, Joint Chief Executive at Northcott Theatre, said: Exeter Northcott is on a journey to become more sustainable. For Cinderella, this means we have hired and repurposed sets rather than building new, we have moved to LED lights and opted for more sustainable options such as biodegradable confetti. We want our audiences to know that getting the bus to the Northcott is easier than ever before and we were delighted to partner with Stagecoach to promote sustainable travel and have some fun in the process.

Peter Knight Managing Director of Stagecoach South West said: “This partnership reflects the shared commitment of Stagecoach South West and Northcott Theatre to support the local community and champion green travel solutions. We hope this festive collaboration inspires more people to consider bus travel during the festive season as a practical and sustainable option. Our number 4 Service provides accessible connections between the city centre with Exeter University and Northcott Theatre, making it a convenient way for people to travel. “

Stagecoach is making progress with their plans to roll out their electric fleet next year in Exeter and anticipate they will be introduced in the second half of the year.
