Stagecoach South West were delighted to support the Big Noise Chorus “Celebrating Our Wonderful World” concert, held on Friday 6th September at The Princess Theatre in Torquay.

The concert, sponsored by Stagecoach, was an uplifting night of harmony and hope, while informing guests on how to take actionable steps to support the environment. This joyous evening saw over 100 members of the choir performing with a live band with proceeds in support of Surfers Against Sewage.

The Big Noise Chorus is a network of community choirs for adults, created to make singing in a choir accessible to everyone. The choir sings in a variety of musical styles of from Pop and Rock through to World music.

The choir collective adopts unique and inclusive coaching methods to create a relaxed environment, where even the most reluctant of singers will find their voice and have the ability to shine. By having a ‘no auditions necessary’ policy, the choir offers full inclusivity, making sure all are welcome to join - regardless of experience.

Stagecoach South West Marketing Manager Sarah Clark said: ‘It was such an honour to support this fantastic collective of community choirs and be part of their journey in making this concert a reality.’

‘Working with our local community choir has been a wonderful way to make a difference in the communities we serve, and to celebrate our shared goals of emphasising the importance of green travel.’

Stagecoach was also delighted to be able to donate concert tickets to the local community, working in partnership with the Torbay Community Development Trust. This initiative, working with local community groups, is the first in a number of projects planned aimed at tackling social isolation and building travel confidence.

Members of the community were gifted tickets to “Celebrating Our Wonderful World” concert, and personalised travel itineraries, enabling them to use their concessionary passes to travel sustainably to The Princess Theatre.

One recipient of the concert tickets commented; ‘It was great to have the opportunity to come out and do something. Theatre trips only happen once in a blue moon nowadays.’

Another added that ‘It was great to be able to support the Choir, with the current cost of living and changes following the pandemic, social trips don’t happen as often.’

Stagecoach South West Marketing Manager Sarah Clark added: ‘We were delighted to be able to treat people in the community to a fun filled evening by bus, and we look forward to working with partners across the region to make similar events a reality.’
