Starting from 27th October, these routes will be going cashless. This means we won't be accepting cash payments on board.

Contactless Payments:
Quick and simple. Pay on board using your contactless card or phone for single, day, and 7-day tickets.
Online:
You can buy 7 & 28 day tickets here. These will be posted to your delivery address on a smartcard.
Going cashless helps speed up your journey, meaning a more punctual and reliable service for everyone. It also allows drivers to focus on giving you a great journey.

Make sure you have the latest version of our app to take advantage of all the above features. If your apps don’t update automatically, all you need to do is go to your app store and update the Stagecoach Bus App manually.

Cashless Bus Service – Frequently Asked Questions
1. What does “cashless” mean?
It means we won’t be accepting any coins or notes on the bus. You can buy all types of tickets on the Stagecoach Bus App, use Contactless payment on bus (cards and mobile phones/other smart devices) or you can buy weekly and monthly season tickets in advance through the Stagecoach website.
2. Why are buses switching to a cashless system?
Going cashless speeds up your journey, meaning a more reliable service, getting you where you want to, on time. It also allows drivers to focus on giving you a great journey.
3. When will buses be cashless?
Routes D4, D5 & D6 will be cashless from 27th October 2025.
4. Will there be a grace period where cash will be accepted?
No. From 27th October cash will not be accepted on the D4, D5 & D6. We shared our plans for going cashless on the D4, D5 and D6 from 13th October with notices and leaflets on buses, as well as sharing the news with the local newspapers. From 20th October we also have colleagues around giving customers any help or guidance they need to purchase their tickets using the Stagecoach App.
5. What if my card/phone doesn’t work or I don’t have another way to pay?
If you’re unable to pay using your usual method, don’t worry, just speak to your bus driver. They’ll do their best to help you continue your journey.
6. Will all buses become cashless, or just certain routes?
Only Daventry routes D4, D5 & D6 will be cashless.
7. What payment methods are accepted?
You can pay using:
• Stagecoach App (credit/debit cards, Apple/Google Pay or Paypal)
• Contactless debit/credit cards or other contactless payment devices such as mobile phones or smartwatches using Apple or Google Pay
• Online (7 & 28 day tickets only)
• Concessionary travel passes are accepted as normal
8. Is my payment data secure?
Yes. All transactions are securely encrypted and processed. No personal banking details are stored by Stagecoach.
9. How do I get the Stagecoach App?
The app can be downloaded free from the Apple App Store or Google Play. Click here to download it now if browsing on a mobile phone, or simply visit your app store and search for ‘Stagecoach Bus App’.
