Hiking in the Highlands

Looking to make visiting the Cairngorms a little easier? we've got you!

We've got multiple services that visit the Cairngorms National Park, so you can sit back and relax before your hike. So instead of focusing on trying to find a parking space, you can plan the day ahead instead, focusing on what you're going to do when you get to the Cairngorms!

What bus you need to get to the Cairngorms

Aviemore Adventurer

The Aviemore Adventurer runs directly from Aviemore rail station to the Cairngorms National Park, with beautiful landscapes along the way. There's room for bikes and more in a specially upgraded luggage locker, so you won't need to leave anything behind. The bus stops right at the park car park, so you can just jump off the bus and continue your adventure.

From Inverness

Service 37 will get you to Aviemore rail station before catching the number 30 Aviemore Adventurer. There may be other connecting journeys you can take to get to Aviemore. Please plan your journey to find out more. 

From Grantown-on-Spey

Services 37, 337, and X37 can get you to Aviemore rail station from Grantown-on-Spey, The Square.

From Aberlour

The 36A leaves from The Square and goes straight to Aviemore station, and then you can catch service 30 to the Cairngorms

To start your adventure, all you need to do is plan your journey on the Stagecoach Bus App. 

Royal Deeside - Aberdeen - Ballater/Braemar

201/202 services can get you to walk and trails in Aberdeenshire. The regions follows the River Dee into the Cairngorms.

What to do in the Cairngorms

Unsure what you can do at the Cairngorms? There is much more to the Cairngorms than just hiking. We've put together a short list of activities you can do when you get there -

Get the right ticket for you

If you're under the age of 22, take advantage of the under 22 free travel pass. All you need to do once you have your pass is to tap the card on the ticket machine and tell the driver where you want to go. No need to hassle Mum and Dad for a lift or spend money on expensive taxis.
