Quicker boarding with the Stagecoach Bus App

QR Screenshot Stagecoach App

We've introduced QR code technology on our buses in Oxfordshire, meaning boarding the bus with the Stagecoach Bus App is even quicker!

This will change how you present your Stagecoach App ticket when you board the bus. Instead of showing the driver, simply scan the QR code on the reader.

When you present the QR code, the reader will automatically check your ticket is valid.

How do I scan my Stagecoach Bus

App ticket?

Once you've activated your Stagecoach App ticket, it will show a QR code above the ticket name.

Look out for the QR code reader next to the driver, it has a blue line around the reader.

Hold your phone steady in front of the reader. The machine will light up green and beep to show your ticket has been accepted.

There's no need to show your ticket to the driver so head on board.

Frequently asked questions

Q. Why have you introduced QR codes?

QR codes provide a number of benefits. As well as making it quicker for you to board, they minimise fraudulent use of App tickets and provide us with more data to help us to understand how you use your tickets.

Q. Does this work for all tickets?

Currently you can only scan tickets purchased on the Stagecoach Bus App and Oxford Tube App.

You will not be able to scan QR tickets on our Service S6 to Swindon or 853 to Cheltenham. Please continue to show the driver your ticket on these services.

Stagecoach East tickets will also need to be shown to the driver, even when travelling within Oxfordshire.

Q. Do I need to have internet for my QR code to scan?

No. You will only need to have internet access when you activate your ticket.

Q. Why won't my ticket scan?

Try turning your brightness up to full so that the reader can pick up the QR code. If your ticket won't scan because of damage to your phone screen, please show the ticket to the driver manually and get your phone repaired or replaced as soon as possible.

Q. Why was my ticket rejected?

There are a couple of reasons why your ticket might be rejected. The most common are:

• You are trying to use a ticket outside of the time or travel zone it is valid for.

• You are using a screenshot of a QR code.

• You have shared your QR code and it has already been scanned.

• If none of the above reasons explains why your ticket has been rejected, please check the time on your phone to ensure it is correct.

Q. I’m having trouble with the Stagecoach Bus App, what do I do?

If you’re having an issue with purchasing or activating a ticket, please get in contact with the App team at [email protected].

Q. What if there are 2 people travelling using one phone?

No problem, you’ll need to have 2 tickets activated on your phone, but you can scan one after another.
