Tickets for children
Children under 5
Up to four children under 5 years old can travel for free when accompanied by a responsible, fare-paying passenger.
These children shouldn’t:
- take a seat that paying passengers might need
- stay in a buggy in an unsuitable place on the bus
See our conditions of carriage for more information about carrying small prams and buggies.
5–16 year olds
Children aged 5 to 16 years old (until 31 August after their 16th birthday), can usually travel for a discounted, flat single fare within Hull and Cottingham.
Travel outside Hull and Cottingham
Children aged 5 to 15 years old travelling between Hull and Scunthorpe or Grimsby pay half the adult single and return fares. These discounted fares are only available after 09:00 on schooldays, at weekends and during school holidays.
Adult single fares must be paid by children travelling on schooldays before 09:00. A peak child return fare is available at two-thirds of the adult return fare.
Children aged 5 to 16 (until 31 August after their 16th birthday), travelling between Hull and Leeds pay a discounted single or explorer return fare. These tickets can be bought and used at any time.
You may be asked for ID to prove your age before you can buy discounted child tickets.
Child Day Out tickets
Children under 16 can use a child Day Out ticket. It allows 1 day’s unlimited travel on any of our bus services in East Midlands.
They are only valid on the day you buy them, after 09:00 on schooldays, all day at weekends and on bank holidays.
They aren’t valid on Pronto (Mansfield - Chesterfield - Nottingham), X62 (Leeds - Hull) or certain special event services.
Family Day Out tickets are also available and offer unlimited travel for two adults and three children.
