If you're travelling from St Andrews, Glenrothes, Dunfermline, Kirkcaldy, Kincardine, or Leven, hop on-board the X24/X27 to Glasgow for a hassle-free journey.

Coming from Cumbernauld, Govan, Easterhouse, or surrounding areas of Glasgow? Our X25 and X19 services will get you to the city centre in no time.

Once you arrive at Buchanan Bus Station, head to stance 6 where you can board the X77 to Ayr. With peak-time services running every 20 minutes, you’ll be there before you know it.

From Ayr Bus Station, make your way to stance 13 to hop on the 97 service for the short trip to Craig Tara Holiday Parkwhere your holiday truly begins!

Finding your way around a new place can be stressful - but that’s no way to start a holiday!

Let us help you get off on the right foot with our handy guide to local supermarkets, shopping hotspots, and bus services. 

Need to pick up a few bits and bobs?

  • Morrisons – Just a 15-minute walk from Ayr Bus Station or a short trip on service 3. You can also catch service 97 from Burns Statue Square.
  • Tesco – Prefer Tesco? Hop on service 3 or service 6, and you’ll be there in 10 minutes. These services depart from Boswell Park, just a 5-minute walk from Ayr Bus Station.
  • Sainsbury’s – If Sainsbury’s is your go-to, take services 4, 14, or 585 from Ayr Bus Station - quick and easy!
  • Heathfield Retail Park – Hop on service 6 to Heathfield Retail Park, where you’ll find Asda, B&M, Home Bargains, and The Food Warehouse. Just 25 minutes from Ayr town centre, with buses departing from Boswell Park.
  • Ayrshire Central Shopping Centre – Looking for even more shopping options? Head to Ayrshire Central Shopping Centre, home to Primark, New Look, River Island, and Next. Just a 10-minute walk from Ayr Bus Station.

 

Getting back to Ayr

  • From Tesco and Heathfield Retail Park, take service 2 back to Ayr town centre (services 3, 43, and 43A are also available from Tesco).
  • From Sainsbury’s, take services 4, 14, or 585 - these will also bring you back to Ayr.

Fancy going a little further? Jump on service 14 to Troon, where you’ll find an amazing beach, great shopping, and fantastic food.

Robert Burns Birthplace Museum

Visit the birthplace of the bard, Robert Burns, and see how he lived his life in Alloway! Take our service 361 to Clochranhill Road to be dropped right outside!

 

Culzean Castle & Country Park

Explore the woods, beaches, parkland, gardens and fantastic playpark for children to enjoy. Bring a picnic and make a day of it with lunch by the swan pond! Hop on the service 60 to Glenside, followed by short walk.

 

Heads of Ayr Farm Park

Whether you love alpacas, llamas or donkeys, your day will be packed with fun-filled memories! Jump on the service 361 or the service 97 to heads of Ayr Farm Park.

 

Ayr Racecourse

Enjoy a day at the races? Pop along and spend the day at the home of the Scottish Grand National. Any one of the following services takes you to Whitletts Road: 3, 6, 43, 43A.


Kelburn Castle and Estate

A great day out for the whole family! Home to the 'Castle Graffiti Project' – an amazing sight, not to be missed! With indoor and outdoor play areas to secret forest walks and trails, there really is something for everyone! Hop on the service 585 to Baillie Road, Fairlie.

 

Scottish Maritime Museum

Home to amazing ships and telling the story of the nation’s maritime past, present and future, fun day out for the whole family. Travel there on the service 14 to Marress Roundabout or the service 585 to Heatherhouse Road, Irvine.

 

Eglinton Country Park

Adventure playgrounds, lochs, Eglinton castle ruins, standing stones and Tournament Bridge, what’s not to love about Eglinton Country Park? Use the service 585 to Kilwinning road in Irvine before switching to the service 11 to Watercut Road!

 

Skelmorlie Aisle

If you love history, you'll love this hidden gem! Tucked away off the main street in Largs, it's well worth a visit. Best part is, its a quick journey on the service 585 to Manse Court, Largs, and you're there!

 

Vikingar!

Learn all about the Vikings, meet the Gods of Asgard and travel back in time with interactive, hands-on experience definitely not to be missed. Travel to Asgard on the service 585 to Manse Court (followed by a short walk!).

 

Dean Castle Country Park

A FREE day out with all the family – this country park is filled with great things to do including Adventure Play Space, play parks and the Urban Farm where you can meet some of the beautiful animals. Soak up some Scottish history around the newly refurbished Dean Castle and enjoy a cuppa in the Treehouse Café. Hop aboard either service 4 or X76 to Grougar Drive.

 

Dumfries House

A brilliant day out for the whole family, explore the grounds for FREE with some amazing sights to see. Adventure playgrounds, cafés and woodland walks or visit Dumfries House and enjoy the guided tours through the house. It's service 42 to The Avenue, followed by a lovely walk through the back entrance to Dumfries House.

 

The Dick Institute

The Dick Institute holds a range of exhibitions and also plays host to some world-class touring exhibitions. A great day out and a lovely tearoom for when you need a rest – one not to be missed! Hop aboard our service 4 to Kilmarnock and then a short 10-minute walk from the bus station or hop aboard our all-electric service 1 to Loanhead Street.

 

Craufurdland Castle

This wonderful piece of history has something for everyone from treetop trails, outdoor activities, adventure runs and a lovely restaurant. Get there on our service 4 or X76 to Southcraig Holdings with a short walk to the Castle.
