Tickets for children
Children under five
Up to four children under five years old can travel for free if they’re accompanied by a responsible, fare-paying passenger.
These children can’t:
- take a seat that paying passengers might need
- stay in a buggy in an unsuitable place on the bus
Children under five who can’t travel for free can travel at a discounted rate throughout Derbyshire.

Five–15 year olds
Single and return tickets
Children aged five to 18 years can travel at a discounted rate in Chesterfield and Derbyshire.
Chesterfield child dayrider Plus zone
Children and young people in Chesterfield can travel all day and week with the Chesterfield Child dayrider and megarider Plus tickets.
These tickets are available for all Children aged 5-15 and holders of a b_line1 or b_line2 card or Megatravel or 16-18 travel pass in South Yorkshire
South Yorkshire Plus zone
Children and young people in Chesterfield can travel into Sheffield and across South Yorkshire with the South Yorkshire child dayrider and megarider plus tickets.
This ticket is available for all Children aged 5-15 and holders of a b_line1 or b_line2 card or Megatravel or 16-18 travel pass in South Yorkshire
Children under 16 can get a child Explorer ticket in Yorkshire and Derbyshire.
It allows one day’s unlimited travel on the Sheffield Supertram and on our buses throughout:
- South Yorkshire
- West Yorkshire
You won’t be able to use your child Explorer ticket on:
- night buses
- services operated by Stagecoach Manchester in the Glossop area
- Stagecoach Hull route X62.
