The Academic StudentRider ticket is the flexible student bus pass that give you cheaper travel - pay once and use it as many times as you like throughout the academic year. We also offer StudentRider tickets for each academic term.

Here is our range of StudentRider tickets for 2025-2026 academic year and associated prices. There are tickets available for the academic year or tickets available by term. You can choose which one is best for you. The tickets are also available by different locations.

Please note the following dates:

  • Academic year runs as follows: - 1st September 2025 to 22nd July 2026
  • Early bird tickets are available from 1st to 31st August 2025.
  • Autumn Term tickets are available from the 4th August 2025.

Term tickets are valid for the following duration:  

  • Autumn Term – 1st September 2025 to 19th December 2025
  • Spring Term – 5th January 2026 to 2nd April 2026
  • Summer Term – 13th April 2025 to 22nd July 2026

All West Gold StudentRider tickets are valid on any Stagecoach West service. This includes services in Gloucestershire, Bristol,

  • You can buy a student ticket on our app without needing a student ID card or ID number
  • Once purchased, you'll need to add your student details including your name and student ID number (if you have one) before you can activate the ticket for use
  • The student name on your ticket must match your student ID
  • You'll need to carry your student ID when travelling with your student ticket
 

FAQs

What do I need to buy my StudentRider ticket?

StudentRider tickets in our range are valid for young people who are 19 and under and for college or university students.

StudentRider tickets bought on the app can be purchased like any other ticket.

You may be asked to provide proof of age and/or a valid photo student ID when using the ticket to prove your age and eligibility of the ticket.

Please ensure you have this with you every time you use your StudentRider.


Where can I get my StudentRider?

  • Website - Academic year and term tickets can be purchased on the Stagecoachbus.com website. Tickets will be given on a Smartcard (an electronic card so no more hunting for your paper ticket!) Please note valid student ID or proof of age may still be requested to prove age.
  • Stagecoach App - StudentRider Term tickets can also be purchased on the Stagecoach App. Please note valid student ID or proof of age is still required upon use.
  • StudentRider Tickets are available to all under-19s, and to college and university students in full-time education. Over-16s may be asked to provide proof of age and/or a valid photo ID. Please ensure you have this with you every time you use your StudentRider.

Can I purchase these tickets on bus?

Unfortunately, you will not be able to purchase StudentRider tickets on bus.
 

I'm not a University student, am I eligible for a StudentRider Ticket?

StudentRider tickets are available to all under-19s, and to college and university students in full-time education. 
Over-16s may be asked to provide proof of age and/or a valid photo ID. Please ensure you have this with you every time you use your StudentRider. 
 

Are there any services that I can't use my StudentRider ticket on?

You are unable to use your StudentRider ticket on the Oxford Tube coach service. You also won't be able to use your ticket on Megabus or other operator's services.   

 

Do you offer bus tickets for University staff? 

StudentRider tickets are only available to students, however, we have many employee schemes across our region. Contact your travel planner who can discuss options through our Stagecoach Solutions team.

 

What do I do if I lose my StudentRider?

We don’t replace lost or stolen StudentRider tickets. If there are exceptional circumstances, we may re-issue you a ticket for a £15 administration fee.
