Ilfracombe features something for everyone, whether it’s the picturesque historic harbour of quaint pastel coloured houses, 14th Century chapel perched on Lantern Hill or Damien Hirst’s statue Verity surrounded by dramatic cliffs. The town is on the South West Coast Path, and is home to stunning beaches and coves including the famous Tunnels Beaches. Barnstaple is the largest town in North Devon, situated on the River Taw the ancient town has something for everyone. Why not take in a show at the Queen’s Theatre, or browse the mix of big brand shops and traditional family businesses along the High Street? The historic Pannier Market hosts regular markets to plus delicious local produce and incredible street food. Just next to the library in the town centre, you’ll find the remains of Barnstaple Castle, this former Motte and Baily Castle was a main feature of the town during Norman times. You can also find the remains of the Barnstaple Elephant which is housed in one of the town’s museum. The elephant was discovered in the town and has been dated back to a species that died out over 115,000 years ago! EX328BB
Bideford is home to the best in pubs, music and restaurants. This historic harbour town is packed with independent shops, local produce and the picturesque quay. The town features a historic Pannier Market as well as being the home to the Atlantic Village outlet, where you can find your favourite brands at bargain prices. You can easily access the start of the Tarka Trail for a walk or cycle, or for family friendly fun head to Victoria Park which boasts a wonderful children’s play area and free splash pool. Bideford is close to The Milky Way Amusement park with roller coasters, indoor adventure play area, wildlife displays and live shows and The BIG Sheep, an animal-themed family amusement park with sheep racing, lamb feeding, climbing wall and gentle rides. On the east bank of the Torridge estuary and is Bideford’s eastern half, East the water. EX392HE
Appledore is a historic fishing village with winding narrow streets and colourful houses, Appledore is full of maritime history and cute pastel houses. The village is well known for the quality of the seafood as well as it’s traditional fishing cottages museums and independent shops. EX391RH
Westward Ho! one of North Devon’s most popular surfing and swimming spots, as it combines a large expanse of sand with pebbles, grasslands and a diverse beachscape making it perfect for families, sunbathers and water sports such as surfing, kayaking and paddle boarding. The beach has been awarded a Blue Flag and in the summer months life guards are stationed along the water. EX391LN
Instow located on an estuary where the Taw and Torridge rivers meet, is a peaceful place to visit for the day or stay on a short break. The popular Tarka Trail runs through the town providing an easy way to explore on both foot or by bike The town features a golden sand beach, with ideal conditions for kite and wind surfing. The village has several delis and farm shops stocking a range of locally produced items, from seafood, ruby beef and even locally sourced samphire. EX394LA
Braunton is a charming but busy village, situated in the heart of North Devon, sandwiched between the busy town of Barnstaple and breath taking coastline. Our open top bus connects the village to the sandy, surfer haven beaches of Saunton and Croyde. Saunton is backed by sand dunes, stretches over 2.5 miles and has the fantastic Beachside Grill restaurant whilst Croyde is surfer-central in North Devon and stretches over 5 miles. EX332JT
