Tickets for children 

Tickets for under 5s

Up to 3 children under 5 years old can travel for free when accompanied by a responsible passenger.

These children can’t:

• Take a seat that paying passengers might need
• Stay in a buggy in an unsuitable place on the bus

Tickets for 5 – 15s

Single and return tickets 

Children aged 5 to 15 years can travel for about two thirds of the cost of most adult fares.

Child DayRider/Explorer tickets

Child dayrider/ explorer tickets are valid for children aged 15 and under and are available 7 days a week.

SchoolRider tickets 

Our SchoolRider tickets in Barrow are valid for 7 days. Tickets can be used for travel on school days and passengers must board by 19:45pm.

Family DayRider tickets 

Family DayRider tickets valid for up to 2 adults and 3 children

You can share DayRider tickets with your family and friends when you're not using them.

Child North West Explorer tickets

Child North West Explorer tickets are valid for either 1 or 3 days. They allow unlimited travel:

• Throughout Cumbria and Lancashire – as far south as Chester, Wigan and Bolton
• On cross border services to and from Dumfries
• On the joint Stagecoach/Arriva service between Carlisle and Newcastle Upon Tyne

Family tickets are available for 2 adults with up to 3 children.

Tickets for under 16s

Routerider tickets 

Routerider tickets offer 7 days' unlimited travel on a specific service. Routerider tickets on our X6/6 service can only be used between Barrow and Dalton.

Tickets for under 19s

U19 dayrider tickets

U19 dayrider tickets are valid for passengers up until their 19th birthday.

Tickets for students 

SchoolRider tickets 

Our SchoolRider ticket in Barrow is valid for 5 days. Tickets can only be used for travel on school days and you must board by 19:45.

CollegeRider tickets 

Collegerider tickets offer unlimited travel within the equivalent MegaRider zone. You can use them on term days and weekends, but not during school holidays. They’re available for full time students attending:

• Carlisle College
• Barrow Sixth Form College
• Furness College
• Lakes College in West Cumbria 

You’ll only be able to use your CollegeRider ticket with a valid college photo ID card.

Lancaster UniRider 

Are you a full time student at either the University of Cumbria (Lancaster campus) or Lancaster University? You’ll get great value with our student bus ticket . It will allow you unlimited travel on our buses within Lancaster.

To buy a UniRider ticket, you'll need a University Library ID Card. The name on your ID card must match the name on your ticket.

Tickets for adults 

Passengers aged 16 and above pay the full price adult fare. If you are aged between 16 and 19, you may be able to get cheaper tickets - see our tickets for young people.

We have a wide range of great value tickets available.

Singles and return tickets 

Single tickets are perfect if you only make one journey a day.

Return tickets offer you a discount when travelling between 2 places and are only valid on the date printed on the ticket.  We don’t offer return tickets within Carlisle because a DayRider ticket is the cheapest way to travel around the city.

DayRider tickets 

A DayRider ticket gives you 1 day's unlimited travel in your chosen ticket zone. Travel as often as you like all day.

Family DayRider tickets are also available in some areas and offer unlimited travel for up to 2 adults plus 3 children.

Group DayRider tickets are also available in some areas and are valid for up to 5 adults.

You can share DayRider tickets with your family and friends when you're not using them.

North West Explorer tickets 

North West Explorer tickets are valid for either 1 or 3 days. It’ll allow unlimited travel:

• Throughout Cumbria and Lancashire – as far south as Chester, Wigan and Bolton but not on Stagecoach Manchester services
• On cross border services to/from Dumfries
• On the joint Stagecoach/Arriva service between Carlisle and Newcastle Upon Tyne

Carlisle FootyRider tickets

We’re making it easier for Blues fans to get to Brunton Park on match days. Our Carlisle footyrider ticket will get you to every first-team home game, for half the price of a normal DayRider ticket.

To buy a FootyRider ticket, you’ll need to show the driver a:

• valid season ticket
• valid season TeamCard membership card
• match ticket for the game taking place on that day

MegaRider tickets 

You can use your MegaRider ticket for unlimited travel in your chosen area. You can choose more than one zone to travel in and how long you want your ticket for.

You can even choose to pay for your ticket by a monthly recurring payment and add it to your StagecoachSmart card.

Tickets for family and groups 

Family DayRider tickets 

This ticket gives families or groups 1 day’s unlimited travel in your chosen ticket zone. 

Family DayRider tickets offer unlimited travel for up to 2 adults and 3 children and Group DayRider tickets are valid for up to 5 adults. 

You can share DayRider tickets with your family and friends when you're not using them.

Group & Family North West Explorer tickets

The North West Explorer is valid for either 1 or 3 days.

It will allow unlimited travel on our buses:

• Throughout Cumbria and Lancashire – as far south as Chester, Wigan and Bolton but not on Stagecoach Manchester services
• On cross border services to/from Dumfries
• On the joint Stagecoach/Arriva service between Carlisle and Newcastle Upon Tyne

Family bus & boat tickets

Concessionary bus pass holders (seniors and disabled) 

If you have reached state pension age or have a certain disability, you can apply for an English  concessionary bus pass  from your local council. Your pass will allow you to travel for free on our buses.

You can normally travel after 09:30 until 23:00 on weekdays and all day at weekends and on bank holidays. Some local councils have different rules on when you can use your pass.

If you need assistance from our driver, you can apply for a journey assistance card. 

Jobseekers

We offer half price single and return tickets to jobseekers.  To qualify, you must have a valid Jobcentre Plus Travel Discount card.

Animals

Guide dogs and assistance dogs can travel for free at all times.

One dog per fare paying passenger may travel free of charge and must not be a nuisance or danger to others. Animals may not sit on the seats.
