Tickets for children
Under 5
Up to four children under the age of 5 can travel for free when accompanied by a responsible passenger.
However, these children can't:
- take a seat that paying passengers might need
- stay in a buggy in an unsuitable place on the bus
See our conditions of carriage for more information about carrying small prams and buggies.
5-15 year olds
U16s may be asked for valid photo ID showing proof of age when buying and using tickets - failure to show on request means the full adult fare is payable.
Single and return fares
Most children aged from five to 15 pay half the price of an adult single fare. In the Angus area, children will pay two-thirds of the adult fare. All fares are rounded up to the nearest 5p.
A child add-on fare of just £1 is available between Ferrytoll/Halbeath P&R and Edinburgh when travelling with an adult buying the off peak day return. An add-on fare of £1 is also available alongside an adult buying a period return on the Express City Connect network to Glasgow Airport.
U16 DayRider ticket
Children under 16 can get a child dayrider ticket in certain travel zones, for one day's unlimited travel. Buy from the driver or you can now buy as a mobile ticket via the Stagecoach Bus app.
U16 MegaRider ticket
Under 16s can also get an U16 MegaRider ticket for 7 days’ unlimited travel on our buses. This is available to buy from the driver, from stagecoachbus.com or from the Stagecoach Bus app.
Discounted tickets for over 11s with the Young Scot card
If you’re over 11, you can apply for a free Young Scot card. You’ll get a third off all our adult single fares, and you can use the card as proof of age when purchasing U16 tickets.
