Route T11

Operating daily from Monday 29th March until Saturday 26th October 2019 route T11 will take you to some of the highlights of the island.

The hop-on, hop-off bus service departs from Kirkwall at 10am each day travelling west along the coast before arriving at Stromness. Route T11 then stops at Skara Brae and the Ring of Brodgar and passes the Standing Stones of Stenness before returning to Kirkwall.


Service X1

Visiting the attractions in Orkney could not be easier with service X1 operating every 30 minutes from 29th March 2019. Service X1 connects Stromness and Kirkwall to many of the sites on the island including the Churchill Barriers, Italian Chapel, Highland Park Distillery, and Maeshowe (alight the X1 at Stenness Visitor Centre to use the shuttle bus to  visit Maeshowe).  

Service 8S  also offers additional connections to Skara Brae.   You can sit back and enjoy the views while we  take you to the attractions in Orkney. 

Timetables for all of our services in Orkney are available to download below. All of our bus services run on a ‘hail and ride’ basis out with built-up areas. Simply get into a safe spot on the main  road and make it clear to our driver that you’d like to get on board. If you’re travelling in a group you can even give us advance warning of your group size and where you’ll be boarding. Just contact us on 01856 870 555.

Pay by contactless on board the bus

All our buses in Orkney are now able to take contactless payments using either a credit/debit card or Apple/Google Pay. Note £30 limit applies as standard.  Don't worry though, we still accept cash and all our drivers give change. 

Book your seat in advance

 Advance bookings are only available on service T11, please select "single" as your ticket type for the T11 as the tour starts and ends in the same place to make visiting the top attractions as easy as possible for you!

Mobile Tickets

On the Stagecoach Bus mobile app, you can now instantly buy and use dayrider and 7 day megarider tickets meaning there is no need to search for loose change. You can pay for your ticket with a credit/debit card or via paypal and your ticket will be instantly downloaded and ready to show to your driver.

You can also track your bus and see exactly when it will arrive!

Route T11 connections

We have multiple connections throughout Orkney to  make sure you can see all the Island has to offer.  

Flying in?

Jump on the JET (service 4) to take you into Kirkwall from Kirkwall Airport every 30 minutes.  Alternatively service 3 will take you from the airport to Deerness.

Visiting from the ferry?

The X10 picks up  from the NorthLink Ferry at Hatston Pier.  
It meets with NorthLink’s evening arrival and departure sailings from Hatston Pier to Kirkwall and Stromness.

Houton Ferry and Tingwall Ferry are also served by the 2 and 6 respectively making your day trips even easier!

* Service X10 is a bus transfer service for NorthLink Ferry passengers in Orkney. It meets with NorthLink’s evening arrival and departure sailings from Hatston Pier to Kirkwall and Stromness.

Buy these dayrider, 7 day megarider tickets, or any single / return fares from the driver, there’s no need for exact money because all our drivers carry change.  Tickets valid for longer periods are also available to buy here.
